Legacy & References

Muazzaz Ahmed Choudhury (Faaiz) descends from a distinguished lineage that traces its roots back to Prince Muhammad Imam Baksh, a royal descendant from Iraq who came to India during the Mughal era. His son, Nawab Jan Muhammad Khan Bahadur, served as the Faujdar (military commander and governor) of Bihar and Sylhet under Mughal Bengal's Sylhet Sarkar Emperor Aurangzeb.

Over centuries, the Choudhury family became an influential landowning class in Sylhet, known for their role in administration, cultural patronage, and community leadership. Even after the Partition of 1947, Faaiz’s family continued to stay in India, preserving their heritage and contributing to the region’s socio-cultural landscape.
